kLab (Knowledge Lab) is an open technology hub in Kigali, Rwanda, dedicated to nurturing innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration in the tech community. Established in 2012, kLab provides a co-working space where entrepreneurs, developers, students, and tech enthusiasts can access resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to grow their ideas into viable businesses. It plays a significant role in fostering a culture of innovation and supporting Rwanda’s vision of becoming a knowledge-based economy.
kLab offers training programs, workshops, hackathons, and mentorship sessions, often in collaboration with private and public partners, to equip young entrepreneurs with essential skills in software development, business planning, and product design. The hub supports both early-stage startups and more advanced tech projects, aiming to help innovators build solutions that address local and regional challenges in fields such as agriculture, finance, health, and education.
kLab also works closely with organizations like the Rwanda ICT Chamber and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to link innovators with investment opportunities and expand their reach. By creating a supportive ecosystem for tech-based entrepreneurship, kLab is instrumental in advancing Rwanda’s digital transformation, fostering job creation, and enhancing the country’s competitive position in the regional tech landscape.
